A night guard is a custom-made acrylic mouth guard that protects teeth and deprograms
patients from clenching and grinding. While traditional night guards where bulky and often "tight" on teeth, recent advances in dental technology have resulted in more comfortable, less bulky counterparts.
Our office employs an:
NTI (Nociceptive Trigeminal Inhibition Tension Supprresion System)
night guard, which are custom fit to your mouth and fabricated in our office in as little as
20-30 minutes. NTI 's fit over the front (usually upper) 4 to 6 teeth and protect the whole mouth from clenching and grinding. NTI 's can eliminate painful, aching jaws, sore sensitive teeth, receding gums, stiff neck, and tension and morning headaches. Over 90% of the population grinds at night and only 10% of all dentists use the NTI system. A traditional night splint, a device used by most dentists, actually allows 104% of normal muscle tension than not wearing a splint: a traditional night splint amplifies grinding!
